“We were deeply disappointed with our stay at the Exit Glacier Hotel and feel it was absolutely not worth the money. We arrived around 4:00 PM, well after the 3:00 PM check-in time. While taking our payment, the front desk told us our room would be ready in 5 to 10 minutes. However, as soon as they took our money, they made us sit in the lobby for an entire hour. “The property was in good shape for its age. Felt like a throwback to the 70’s in a good way and was well maintained and very clean and spacious. The view from the room was awesome allowing us to see sea otters, bald eagles and various sea birds. We only ate one meal at the hotel during our stay which was breakfast. “Hotel itself was just ‘okay’. Issue was with the ‘free’ transportation. I was initially told it was free, then it was $3 if you had luggage, then it was $6 if you had luggage. At the port, there was no where to ‘line up’ for the shuttle and another family jumped in front of us after we were waiting for over 30 minutes. I told the shuttle driver before he let them load that we were there first and he didn’t seem to care. Then the hotel had the nerve to charge us for the shuttle that we didn’t...

“This place is a hoot. Each "room" is actually just a small stand-alone structure: mine was a small cabin and the guy next to me was staying in one of those old '50s trailers. Bathrooms and showers are good; can either use the ones outside the main house or those inside. Really fun place. Only a few minutes north of town. Okay to cook your own food in the main house, which has 2 kitchens. Good choice to stay there as long as you don't need a big room.”

“The cabin was very clean. The check-in smooth and friendly. Plenty of parking. The cabin was well equipped. The heater worked great. The only thing that wasn’t appealing was the outside view of this one particular cabin. The others were probably fine. I’d still stay in this same one though especially for mainly a good nights sleep.”

“We felt as though effort was made to make our stay comfortable. The room with two queen beds and kitchenette was clean and had all the amenities to make our three day stay comfortable. The beds and pillows were cozy and bedding was, smelled fresh and clean. The decor was simple, functional and nice. Thank you Spruce Lodge, Karen and Chrissy, sisters from Ontario, Canada”

“We had a day of king salmon fishing planned in the area, so we decided to stay in Soldotna for the night. We paid $234 for a double queen room. The room had several issues. The air conditioner rattled throughout the night, one of the mattresses sagged noticeably in the middle, and the door was difficult to close properly. On the positive side, the room was clean, the breakfast was great, and the staff accommodated an early check-in, which we appreciated. Would I stay here again? Probably not...

“Our stay was perfect! The setting was lovely against the mountains. There was a walking path decorated with delightful sculptures around the property. Our room was large and tastefully decorated. The owners were very personable. Breakfast was on time and tasty. I would definitely recommend this place. ”

“While the outside looks worn the rooms are very nice. The rooms are clean and the beds are also comfortable. For fishermen there is easy access to the Kenai river with cleaning stations if you get lucky.”

Not a huge inconvenience, but it was unexpected. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. I slept well.”
