"When I arrived a gentleman came from the restaurant attached next door to give me my key, but my name wasn’t on his printed list. After a long phone with somebody else call he gave me key and I was able to get to a room. He was very friendly and invited me over for dinner. The room was very basic but clean, exactly what I needed. The location was pretty good, but make sure you book a taxi ahead of time if you have an early flight!"

"The hotel is amazing, its slightly dated however it has excellent facilities, fantastic enormous range at buffet breakfast. 4 pools, sauna steam, jacuzzi ocean views. Resturants, bars, pub. Rooms are really spacious and very comfy beds. Its the kind of place you could just stay at if you dont want to venture out."

"Beautiful hotel. The pool on the 8th has a sensational view. Beautiful plats, great beds and super modern, clean. Only downside for me was service. No service at all but the pool and almost made to feel like you were being troublesome to order a drink. Bar Staff / waiters on 8th floor were pretty nonchalant to be polite. On checking out you are also charged “mandatory tips” when you have to order everything yourself, walk up / down and sometimes told - “we can’t serve you, we’re preparing for dinner service (at 6pm) - pretty poor . Breakfast is fab, rooms are fab, just the poor service that’s letting the place dow ."

"We stayed at The Vine to celebrate our 30th wedding Anniversary. We arrived hours before check-in. Not only were we checked in early, we received a room upgrade. When we entered the room, we were greeted with a welcome note and a bottle of champagne , We were able to shower and relax after traveling overnight and were totally refreshed when we began to explore Funchal! Disaster struck during the 4th day of our stay; my wife broke her ankle requiring surgery and a short stay in a local hospital. This is where The Vine went above and beyond to take care of me while I was alone and both of us when my wife was released from the hospital. Our stay was extended indefinitely until we could provide a departure date (since I had no idea when she would be released), Team members made special effort to find an accessible shower bench for her use when she was able to return. The front desk offered and provided a wheel chair enabling us to salvage what we could of our plans. When we finally were able to make our departure plans, The Vine handled everything - we got the assistance needed to get us safely to airport handicap services and our departure was a breeze. The early breakfast was delicious as it was during every day of our stay. Long story short, Team Vine accommodated us in countless ways. The location, amenities and most of all, Vine team members, shine above and beyond expectations. This was the very best hotel experience we have ever experienced."
