"It's an old historical building so inevitably a bit creaky but clean and full of character. Restaurant and bar very nice with lots of space to relax in public areas. Disappointed to discover pool access required a day pass to use. We knew parking was extra but afterwards went back to the booking page and did find reference to the extra charge for the pool but it wasn't easy to find! If you stay one night and want a swim on arrival and on departure that's two passes! Changing facilities are pretty poor but functional as was the pool itself which was a good size but only steep steps for access and very little space or chairs to relax afterwards. We didn't pay for any spa treatments so didn't see anything apart from the gym that justified calling it a spa. Evening meal package was reasonable for the price with breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Great location for visiting the town on foot."

"We have stayed here several times although on this visit we felt there was a different atmosphere. Reception staff were very efficient and yet seemed less approachable. We usually enjoy the breakfast but this time it was really not worth the extra we paid for it as things like fruit and croissants ran out and weren’t replaced. The coffee machine also stopped working. The gym staff were very friendly and the workout equipment was good although the jacuzzi was out of action and the changing rooms needed a good clean. Maybe it was just a bad couple of days. We’d stay again for convenience but wouldn’t bother with the breakfast."

"This was my first solo trip on my birthday, and the staff were very helpful and kind, and the room was wonderfully cosy. I would highly recommend anyone going, and I will be returning again soon. The hotel is literally in the heart of Bakewell and close to Chatsworth House. Parking: I would recommend going to the bridge car park nearby, as it has overnight parking and reasonable priced."
