프론트데스크 친절했고 위치 좋고, 방과 거실 있음 12/31이라서 가격이 평소보다 2배?는 비쌌으나, 다른 시기에 오면 좋을 듯. 자연사박물관, 센트럴파크랑 이어지고 조용하고 안전하고 레스토랑도 좋은 어퍼웨스트에 위치 가족 단위에게 좋을 듯 젊은이에겐 비추

위치는 좋으나 추운 호텔
비가 추적추적 내리던 기온이 낮은 날이었는데 히터가 작동되지 않아 프론트에 전화했더니, 직원 분이 오셔서 따뜻한(?)날이라고 작동이 안된다는 말을 했습니다. 덕분에 비를 맞은 날에 거의 감기에 걸린 것 같은 컨디션으로 뉴욕에서 지내다 갔습니다. 고객이 추워서 개별난방을 하겠다는데 참 호텔 서비스가 이상했습니다. 위치는 센트럴파크 옆이라 좋았고 맨해튼 시내도 산책겸 걸어서 가도 30분 정도면 갈 수 있는 적당한 거리에 있어 좋았습니다.

최악입니다. 체크인할 때부터 매우 낡은 호텔임을 짐작하고 불안했는데 아니나다를까... 객실문을 여는 순간 찌린내가.... 너무 역겨웠습니다. 환풍기, 에어컨 소리는 너무 시끄럽고 카페트는 끈적거려 도저히 신발을 벗고 다닐 수가 없었습니다. 슬리퍼도 제공하지 않음. 지하철역에서 많이 멀지 않고 가격이 맨하튼 중심지보다 저렴해서 선택했는데 최악의 선택을 했네요. 정말 추천하지 않습니다.

매일 청소 깨끗하게 해주셔서 좋았음! 냉장고 없는거랑 샤워기가 약간 불편했던 것 빼곤 위치나 방크기나 청결상태 전체적으로 대만족입니다.

The hotel is unique in decor. It is older, but very clean and antique decor. I loved it. We were pleasantly surprised to get a larger room. Very close to Central Park and Museum across the street. Also subway is close. We walked to the theatre district for a play. I was so happy to find that cleaning staff found my wallet. I had left it in the safe and staff had given it to the office. What a huge relief!! Nice to know we do have some decent honest people in this world!! Excelsior is our recommendation to stay in NYC! Love New York. Hope to get back soon!

Beautiful hotel, not enough hot water & broken AC
It’s a beautiful hotel with a view overlooking the Museum of Natural History. Unfortunately the air conditioner pumped out hot air instead of cold air, even when the in-room thermostat was set to cool; and the shower sometimes didn’t have enough hot water.

Location, location, location. I have stayed in many different parts of Manhattan. I loved this spot because it is right next to Central Park and the B & C Subway lines. The staff were friendly. The hotel is old-fashioned. The fan in my bathroom was very loud.

Best position on Upper West Side. Hotel updated to modern standard while maintaining true period atmosphere. Feel and reality is an intimate high end New York hotel.

This hotel is wonderful! I completely enjoyed my two day stay there. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was immaculate and well maintained. The only negative thought I have is that there is no longer a restaurant in the hotel forcing visitors to find a place for breakfast and lunch in the surrounding blocks.

This hotel is very nice but also friendly and relaxed as is the Upper West side compared to other parts of Manhattan. The heat was way too warm -- ran the noisy air conditioning most of the night. Other than that, it's a great "home" to come home to after a busy NYC day. It's my sixth time staying here. Love it.

There were some hidden fees, both for WiFi and building services that I was not anticipating. It’s a great location for the cost.

Excellent value for money
The Excelsior hotel is in an excellent position directly opposite the Museum of Natural History and a stone's throw to central park, many good cafes and restaurants and the subway station. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. It is excellent value for money in such an expensive city.

Great location, quiet street, easy access to subway. Breakfast room was under construction, so advertised breakfast not available, which was inconvenient. No in room coffee or room service - plan ahead, as closest coffee shop is a block away. Staff was helpful and kind, and room was clean and well maintained - excellent housekeeping service.

cool smaller boutique-ish hotel in a great area. A few minor issues with the hotel - small things that need update or repair. But overall the hotel was very nice, my 2 double beds room was spacious, clean, and very nice!

Spacious, comfy, and great location!
Needless to say, the location was TERRIFIC. Across from museums, the park, near lots of good restaurants, and an easy walk across town. The room was spacious, too....That was a concern for me knowing how tiny New York spaces can be. Also, it was quiet! The bed, another big concern for my lousy back, was terrific. Woke up with no back issues! Overall a great stay.

Our favorite place to stay!
We stay here every time we come to NYC. Quaint, quiet, and amazing location. Close to the park and subway makes it ideal for our visits. They staff is always friendly and accommodating and rooms are clean and comfortable.

we have stayed at the Excelsior many times the past 3 years - it is our preferred hotel on the upper west side. Like most of the other hotels in that area, it is an older hotel with a smaller lobby, narrow hallways, etc. - but it has larger rooms with many overlooking the history museum across the street.

All the staff was very helpful. Great location, right next to the natural history museum. I always enjoy the Upper West Side neighbourhood. Our room was on a higher floor, with a great view of the museum grounds and everything south of W 81st. The beds and room were comfortable & spacious. The room was quite warm, partly due to the direct sunlight coming in... we kept the shades down during the day. There are lots of options when staying in Manhattan; I will keep this in mind next time I visit.
