Location is very close to the plaza and ideal for walking to restaurants and transport. The tourist module in the plaza is a great resource to learn about the city and area.
Lots of fresh breezes flow through this entire hotel, close to main square. 1950's style and some chairs a bit worn, but super comfy and the pool is a bonus
Hotel Tajín was great with A/C and a few steps from the town center lots of eating options I highly recommend Sorrento Restaurant. The green chilaquiles were delicious! And don’t miss the Tajin ruins awesome to see!. I stayed in one of the hotel’s double suite so spacious and comfy
Loved this hotel. We couldn’t have asked for a better location a better room or a better hotel. At one time this hotel was luxury. I love the old hotels in this world maintains all of his charm. The beds are too hard.
That was my only complaint.

Great location and very helpful staff. A/C worked beautifully. Internet not so much. Not luxurious, but most things work. Papantla is not on the tourist trail but nearby El Tajín does draw visitors, and many stay here. If you want luxury hotels, stay in Poza Rica. If you prefer a charming Mexican town and real local flavor, stay here. Just don’t expect the Hilton.

Fairly basic, even if it is probably the best in town. Comfortable enough but noisy: the windows keep out no noise at all. Hot water. Reasonably clean. A bit pricey for what you get. Friendly. Great location near the zócalo. WiFi a bit variable.
The hotel has excellent location for walks in the town and easy access to market, dinning option and the main church. The room we were hosted at didn't have a working tool for restriction of access, so we set a chair at the door in order to limit access. The pool area furniture was broken and not usefull to sunbathing; even the flowerpot was broken. This hotel is in urgent need for maintenance!
Well first of all the primary picture is not the hotel. Secondly although it is in a prime location in the center of town it has a lot of noise from the restaurants in and around the hotel. As far as cleanliness goes it was okay. The bathroom was moldy and you could smell it when you first walked in. All the fixtures were 20 to 30 years old and the AC was very weak. The bed was as hard as a rock & very uncomfortable. So in conclusion this was a one night stop while visiting El Tajin. On the positive side the staff was very nice and there were many local tourists staying there. There were not many other options I Papantla but for one night it was good enough.
I see a lot of review saying that the hotel is very old and needs renovations. I disagree. Yes, it is very old and it shows, but there was a time when hotels were less cookie cutter and far more grand, and you can absolutely see that in its heyday, this was definitely an elegant hotel.
For us, it more than served its purpose. The bed was comfortable, Papantla is HOT so we appreciated having air conditioning, the room was very clean, and the location was unbeatable. We were steps from the zocalo, markets, the museum Teodoro Cano and restaurants. The pool was small, but it was a welcome respite from the heat and had lovely aesthetics and decor. Overall, the staff was kind and helpful. There is no elevator so if you have mobility issues, you might want to stay on the first floor. There are several steps to come up to the hotel from the front, but there is actually a back entrance right at street leve. We can’t to return to Papantla and would definitely stay here again.
Close to everything in the town. Best location. Even though No hot water, just Luke warm and wifi virtually useless would stay again for location and friendliness. Only $100 pesos to go to ruins and $80 pesos back.

Considering this is an old town, this is a good option. I wish management will consider do some upgrades to the building, it looks and feels old. I liked walking distance to downtown and markets
