"This was a one night stop over for a visit to a local attraction. The hotel was perfect for our needs as a multigenerational family. The rooms were clean and had all that we needed for our stay. We had dinner at the hotel and were delighted at the number of gluten free choices available for our coeliac guest. Portions were generous and the meal was good value. Breakfast was excellent with a wonderful choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, juices and preservers as well as a wonderful cooked-to-order choice as well. There is a good children's play area outside which also includes a grassed area, which was a huge plus for our little guest. Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming and I would have no hesitation in staying again or recommending to others"

"Stayed in ensuite quadruple room (2nd floor), surprised to find small kitchenette with sink fridge kettle and microwave - tea coffee sugar and milk provided - 4 mugs but no other crockery. Large room with table and 3 chairs, beds were fairly comfortable but duvets were very thin. Window a bit draughty as it didnt close properly, this also made it a bit noisy in the room in the morning. A good heater in the room and heated towel rail in the bathroom. Good town centre location, 5 minutes walk to train station and all local amenities on the doorstep. I hadn't realised that these rooms are part of the Red Lion Pub/Hotel which is where you have to check in but the room was through a separate entryway into another building. There is a dedicated reception desk next to the bar, receptionist was very polite and helpful. Bar and dining area is large and welcoming, breakfasts are available which are cheaper if you prebook through reception."
