“Beautiful setting. Very friendly and helpful staff. Autumn went out of her way to help us. Can't wait to come back!”

“Good mix of the historic with some modern upgrades. Parking can be a little bit challenging, especially at dinner time.”

“This is a beautiful property and so dog friendly! I loved it!”

“Nice decor and comfortable beds”

“Wonderful experience here, great location and quaint amenities..highly recommend!”

“The main inn is charming. The bunkhouse is a different story, and the gap between the two is wide enough that I felt misled by the photos used to sell the property. The room is tiny. Just know a king bed takes up almost all of the floor space, and the only other furniture are small nightstands, a luggage rack, a folding chair, and a closet with a curtain instead of a door. There is no room to unpack or move around comfortably. The dark green paint and trim look moody in photos, but in person...

“Cool place, nice atmosphere short walk to the center of Highlands reasonably priced comfortable rooms and quiet”

“We were thrilled at the effort the Holiday Inn Express made to make the stay positive and unique. Bacon for breakfast, coffee machines that made each cup individually, and a very helpful staff were some of the added perks of staying here. Rooms were quite, comfortable, and well equipped.”

“Average breakfast Totally over priced”

“Great place to stay.”

“Good stay for the price.”

“The room was clean , except the furniture , chairs were stained and frayed . I didn’t sit on them . And there were only 2 towels and pillows were in poor condition. Also my room was on the first floor near the lobby and elevator . Noisy .”

“Overall, the property was wonderful my 15 year-old grandson loved going down to the river and walking across on the rocks in the evening we bought a eight dollar pack of four pieces of wood and the front desk had firestarter and loaned us a lighter to start it. Sat by the fire, listening to the river before bed. It was very nice and the front desk had wonderful suggestions for dinner and breakfast was very nice wide selection. The room was very clean. We did have some dirt that may have been...

“Elevator was out of order the entire 3 days of my stay. I have stayed here numerous times over the last several years. Breakfast not as good as the past. This was WCU homecoming weekend so hotel was full. Parking was premium if you were returning late in evening. Some folks had to park in grass area behind hotel due to no parking spaces available.”

“I do NOT understand the good reviews of this property. We found the opposite to be factual. We found the property to be very much in need of some serious TLC. Some examples are rusted surrounds around the shower entrance, rust stains below the sink from a water leak, peeling and discolored paint, spider webs in multiple places in the bed and bath areas, and an atmosphere similar to hoarding throughout the inn. The management desk has been placed in the entry/living parlor and there are piles of...
