"The Blue Flamingo is a great hotel. It has a boutique feel with a nice vibe and energy. The drinks are a little bit overpriced, so happy hour is a MUST. $10 frozen drinks (Pina Colada, Daiquiris) for happy hour (compared to $16 each non happy hour price). The drinks are delicious and are served very cold in plastic cups. They have a nice amount of rum to give them a little ‘kick’. The beer selection is mostly domestic, $7 cans regular price, $5 during happy hour. The Blue Flamingo had 2 pools to choose from with 2 more at ‘sister’ properties. They play nice, clear, fun music and have very clean restrooms and facilities. Lime most resorts, you have to get up early to get a pool lounger to sit on, and the hotel was frequently out of pool towels. Small inconvenience, however. The hotel is not on or near a beach, so I highly recommend renting a golf cart from the resort and use that for trips to different beaches, Duval St. etc. Definitely get more of the Florida Keys vibe from the open air of a golf cart. Smathers beach and Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. They are not far from the resort. I would also recommend using Lyft or Uber when in the Keys, they are way less money than taxi cabs. Blue Flamingo has a complimentary shuttle, every hour, to take you to Duvall St. for shops, restaurants, and night life. Most B.F. servers were pleasant/professional, but one was kinda grumpy and seemed like we were a bother for requesting something. Front desk/maid service are very attentive! :)"
