South Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach hotel rooms at the Independent

"Resort fee covers ... cleaning after you leave? They tell you straight up they don't clean while you're there. (or make the beds, which is my main joy of a hotel) The pool with the slides was closed - and is in the parking lot. The other two pools are tiny, as are the towels they provide. Beach chairs under lock and key. The only restaurant open for dinner is a paper plate scenario. Fruit flies in the room, and a shower so low I had to duck down to wash my hair. The price point is low, which was great, but I would consider this a 'motel' not a 'resort'."

"The location is amazing. Staff is fantastic. Facilities are a little run-down, but if you are going to be on the beach, who cares! I would not stay here during peak season. The property is small, and sound carries. Lots of smokers. For a weekday stay in the off-season, this was fantastic, and the hot tub while looking at the beach is phenomenal. "

"It was overall a nice experience. I’m back this second week at another hotel resort .. sad to say coral beach was the better choice . Just a higher deposit they have . But the hotel is very secure , requiring key to access all amenities . I have kids , it’s a good feeling to know someone can’t walk in off the street and hangout . Room was spacious and clean. They don’t clean your room if you don’t stay longer than 3 days though .. with a kitchen I feel they should offer to clean it at least after the 2nd day."

"We stayed at the beginning of April, the front desk staff and housekeeping depts were exceptional. Friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. Maintenance was getting the grounds and pool area ready for the peak season. Beautiful hotel."

"It’s closed and couldn’t even stay at this hotel. We had to stay at the Polynesian next door so took us 2 hours to figure that out, check in, and find our room. "

"Room was clean view was great. Had to walk across the road to check in which was wierd while it was marked it just was unexpected. The resort was under construction and parking was tight. Worth the $ just wasn’t for me."
