"Obviously this resort has seen better days. The hotel is huge and maintaining the site must be a terrific challenge. It was discouraging that when driving in to the property the closed down, disreputable looking restaurant was the first thing we saw. The huge parking lot was pretty empty, on a weekend when hotels were at a real premium in the area. The exterior looked kind of run down, but the entrance itself seemed maintained okay. The lobby was huge and elaborate, very old school. You don't often see three ballrooms leading from a hotel lobby! The elevator and hallways seemed to be clean enough. The room was just fine...the walls and ceiling weren't damaged in any way and the bed was very comfortable and several different pillows were provided. The bathroom was shiny clean. We had a problem getting the Dish Network tv to work, but a staff member was there immediately when we reported the problem...he got it going quickly. The hotel is historic, dating from its heyday as a stop on the Borscht belt when it was called the Granit Hotel. It's nice to see the effort to keep it going, even minus the golf course and other amenities that were once there. At least some food service would have been nice. Overall, I'm glad we stayed there."
