“We loved our stay at the Churchill. It’s in a great location, about a 10 minute walk from York centre. The hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. The food in the bar was great-big portions too. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Overall this hotel is wonderful and we would definitely stay here again! ”

Right from when we checked in the staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them Hotel was beautiful especially the garden room for sitting and relaxing The bedrooms were lovely and had a view of the minster Very clean and well equipped. Hotel was right next to the railway station we drove and parking was plentiful at the hotel. Didn’t use the car at all you could walk everywhere. Would highly recommend ”

The view shows the outer ditch and bank in the foreground with the inner ditch [moat] and bank beyond. The conical mound was the site of a windmill.
