“It is a charming property, with wonderful views of Frenchman's Bay. We were there early so some things ( bar) was not available yet. Our upper floor room with fireplace and balcony, were lovely! The mattress could be a little softer, but otherwise, no complaints. We look forward to a return visit in the future! Staff was friendly and helpful.”

“The Sand Bar Cottage is an EXCELLENT choice. It is perfectly located and a great establishment. Chris the manager is incredibly personable and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms were comfortable and well maintained. Breakfast was 5 stars. Stay here!”

“We stayed in a very nice suite in the back of the property that had 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. It was just what we were looking for. The walk to Main Street took only a few minutes so driving was unnecessary. The drive to Acadia was quick and easy. Great accommodations and location.”

“We requested a first floor room as I am orthpedically challenged. When we got there it was a second floor room with no chance to change. The room was awful, decorated in flea market antique style, with ridiculously antique wallpaper that was peeling, carpet that was poorly instaled and was "rippling" off the floor, The bathroom had a tub with no separate shower. I was unable to bathe as I can't step into a tub, unfortunately, so I left unshowered. The bed was designed by Torquemada...

“Compared to the chain hotels, this place is more of an old-style inn. The building feels old, but the facilities are well maintained and the room is clean. The in-house made breakfast as many other comments mentioned is indeed a feature of the hotel and a must-try. The location of the hotel is about 5-10 min walk from the downtown Bar Harbor. Parking in Bar Harbor is a nightmare, so if you plan to spend some time exploring downtown Bar Harbor, this is the right place to stay.”
