“The room was very tired, with curtains hanging off the rails and masses of cobwebs & patches on the walls and ceilings. The bathroom entrance had an old gridded ceiling with fibre panels that were dirty, stained, and falling to pieces. Aside from the disappointing room, the bar is good, as is the restaurant, and I cannot complain about the evening meal. I had fish and chips, which were very tasty. “Stayed here for one night on my way down from Edinburgh to London. The hotel is pet friendly. There is £15 charge, not sure if it’s per night or once time charge. The view from the bar is nice. HOWEVER, the lower level rooms (twin rooms) smells terrible. It smells damp. I had to ask to be moved to another room. Even the “upgrade” standard double room smelled damp.
