COVID-19 has changed how we travel, but it hasn't dampened our lust for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to handle travel's new challenges:

• Before booking anything, see if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your destination and origin. Keep informed with the latest updates by checking government and airport websites.
• You must wear a face mask at the airport, including at security checkpoints. Be ready to lower your mask for identification purposes when asked by a TSA employee.
• Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA employee. Instead, position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• You're permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. This will need to be taken out for screening.
• To minimize handling during screening, place personal items such as your loose change and phone into your carry-on rather than into the bins.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA officer will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
