My friends and I visited in June 2026 and had a wonderful time.

Palmaia never disappoints; it is quite like paradise in every way imaginable. The property itself is stunning, as are the accommodations. Every room faces the beach, and you can hear the tide even with the sliding door to your room closed. The rooms are immaculate and contribute to the Zen quality of the resort. The food is absolutely delicious. We have stayed here now four times, and the quality of the food is unwavering. Alas, we do have one complaint, which is they now include animal options for those who are not plant-based. But we believe this is so the owner can remain solvent, so it is a price we are willing to pay to sustain this beautiful place. The rituals, classes, and spa treatments, and the incredible people who take care of you doing your stay are the icing on the cake. If you are considering, do it! It is well worth it!

My husband and I had an AMAZING time during our 5-night stay at Devossion. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating, from the front desk staff to our waiters to our bartenders. Service is definitely #1 here. We loved our room, but we spent most of our time out and about on the property or on excursions to nearby locations (Akumal, Cozumel, and Quinta Avenida in Playa del Carmen). Food and drinks were all delicious, and the property is so well-maintained. They presented us with a small cake and special drinks after mentioning we were celebrating an anniversary, which was so thoughtful. Special shout-outs to Paloma, Natan, and the spa staff - including masseuses Lia and Rose - for exceptional service. Nami, the Asian restaurant, and the Cenote Spa are must-visits. I hope to be able to return here again in the future!

Keeping in mind that this place is still getting its sea legs since opening just 7 months ago, I take into consideration that they are inching closer to the desired resort experience. The good is the place is huge and well maintained overall, rooms are clean and grounds are immaculate. The food was solid, at times just ok (buffet) and other times delicious (Mexican restaurant). Staff was very friendly too. Areas that I would say could use improvement, adding fans to outdoor seating areas in the restaurants. With the climate there it would make those areas much more pleasant. The beach is nice and unfortunately they are dealing with bad sargassum issues like most of the Caribbean. They do what they can and I will leave it at that. Disappointed that marketplace was closed so often but I understand due to the relatively smaller amount of visitors but it limited the food choices especially around lunch time. Overall I give the resort an 8.5/10 and have no doubt it will continue to improve in all of these areas and I thank the entire staff for making this a memorable vacation!
