Brownwood Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"The property is impressive from the front door through the large, well-appointed rooms. The shower stall is large, water pressure great, and you don’t need an engineering degree to figure out the controls. A few things would have made this five-star hotel even better: a grab bar on the shower wall for safety; simple maintenance of the hand-held shower mechanism (which was leaking) and a good, hardy breakfast to start the day would have made this better than the best. Lastly, my review would not be complete without mentioning the staff. There was not one employee of that hotel who wasn’t the epitome of professional hospitality. Special thanks to Kristin for accommodating a last-minute request for a room change (to be closer to a family member). "

Comfort Inn & Suites Wildwood - The Villages

2/10 Terrible

"I’ll never use a comfort anything again. We booked a multi bed room on Expedia that we thought was pet friendly based on the advertisement on Expedia. We got to the hotel and found it was not pet friendly and that the pet friendly rooms were only 4 occupancy. We needed 6 for our kids and my wife. We booked a pet friendly room when we arrived in addition to the one we’d booked through Expedia. The pet friendly room on the first floor was too far away from the other room we’d booked (died to family dynamic) so we crammed all 6 in the one room so everyone felt safe. The floors were soaking wet when we arrived. There was a dehumidifier set up in the room that wasn’t running because staff didn’t empty the condensate tank, which I had to do. The drapes were icily stained and the room smelt like cat urine the entire time. One mattress had remnants if either bed bug staining or mold, clearly turned the pinkish brown color from an attempt to bleach. This was the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had and will never use comfort suites again because of it. We felt disgusting as we checked out. My recommendation is to go with the Ramada water park hotel over this one, even for the price differential. The staff at the hotel also ran my card 4 times, so they hit my bank with $200 in deposit fees for the dogs instead of 50. Tipping it off, the tv was broken with multiple visible lines. Will be disputing all charges using photos obtained from the home. Expedia was unable to assist at all"

"Very relaxing and well maintained. Beautiful landscape and peaceful area. Golf and nature are also perfect. Staff very outgoing and friendly. Everything was just right. If anything could be improved, having some more casual dining available for more extended hours is my suggestion. Since there is not much nearby, we found ourselves hungry without any quick options in the late afternoon."

"The staff was good.The room was clean, but the breakfast was the worst we've ever had in a hotel. They ran out of coffee and milk . We waited, around forty minutes to get coffee. No eggs, no sausage, no bacon, only biscuits with gravy bagels and muffins. All starch products. The furniture and the seats in the breakfast room were dirty with stains..."

"This was our 4th visit and love it here. It’s very conveniently located to family we visit. It is clean and very quiet at night. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. We had an issue with the TV and staff arrived immediately to fix it. Nice breakfast set up every morning. Already planning our next visit."

"The ad is VERY misleading!! Old and now is a Sleep Inn! Not at all what is shown. Mattress was crooked. Walls are not soundproof! Heard someone banging around the hallway at 3am. Snack machines had like literally 3 snacks in it on both floors. So disgusted with everything we did not attempt the “free breakfast”. Checkout took forever. Front desk person looked like she just got out of bed. Very unkempt. Not a good vibe here at all!! Would never recommend or ever come back!"
