Compared to visiting in 1985, it was a lot different. There is no longer a plant tour and tasting. We didn't walk the gardens or take a train ride, but we did get some Dole Whip, ice-cream like dessert. This pretty much is a tourist stopping point on your way to the Northshore now.
The problem here was our tour bus arrived at the plantation about 3:45 and at 4:00 Dole staff starts running everyone out to close the store even though signs posted everywhere says closing is at 5:30!
The train was informative but really nothing to see
It was crowded and we were on a schedule, but the store waas fun & had a lot of things I didn't expect.
Take the train! It's worth the $11.00
Highly recommend. We went in the later afternoon. It wasn't too crowded. The train ride was fun and the Dole Whip (pineapple soft serve) was delicious!
