With new COVID-19 safety guidelines to follow, travel looks a lot different nowadays. These are some handy things to know before you head off to East Vail:

• Before booking your flight, find out if any travel restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Get up-to-date information by checking official government websites.
• You're required to wear a face mask at the airport, including at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to adjust your mask for ID verification when asked by a TSA officer.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it directly on the scanner yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA is now allowing passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag for X-ray screening.
• Put any personal items (like your phone and wallet) in your carry-on rather than a bin to minimize handling during the screening process.
• If you're bringing food on the plane, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA officer will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
