โWe had an amazing 1 night stay. We had parked up the road just off high street (24 hour car park) as parking limited (permit only outside) at the pub but was easy to find car park and walk down to the pub was a couple of minutes. When we arrived in the pub we were welcomed by Babs and Summer. Summer showed us to our room, you have to go through a staff only area and as it is a pub the ceilings were low but we liked that as it makes the stay different. We were told all about the late night...
โI am a regular guest of the Holiday Inn, Abbots Lane, Colchester and have always found the hotel both inviting and comfortable. The staff are excellent and always friendly and helpful. Iโve dined in the restaurant on many occasions and the meals have all been excellent with a wide variety of menu choices. I would highly recommend a stay here! โ
โNice tidy and clean room that looked like it had been recently fitted out.
Decent sized Kitchen at each end of the corridor i didn't use them but they looked fully kitted out and new.
The hotel is on a quiet residential street but took me 5mins to walk into the town centre which has loads of bars, shops and restaurants.
Worth calling ahead of arrival and they'll reserve you a parking spot (There aren't many spots)
Nice bloke on reception showed us our rooms and kindly found me a fan.

โLocated behind "Kind of Spice" so type that in when looking for this place. No lift in the annex building, which is where our room was (2nd flr). Otherwise, kind staff and clean rooms. Complimentary bottles of water at the FD, just ask. Breakfast selection was fantastic; you can pay the night before and save 4bucks compared to the day of. No dinner service, but the bar is open in the evening from 5:30- 10:15pm. "King of Spice" (curry) is right around the corner, so we had dinner there instead....
โThe annexe hotel is a nice, well-appointed hotel, it's a great location for the city centre (we were going to an event in the castle park) and the staff in The George were very helpful and friendly. Be aware, it's a city centre location and the soundproofing isn't perfect - I've had quieter nights!โ
