Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Qtr - Astor by IHG

"This was the worst hotel I have stayed at in New Orleans, and I am there every couple of months the hotel we usually stay at was booked due to graduation going on, and so we chose somewhere different that we thought would be upscale WRONG!! I have never stayed at a Crowne Plaza as raggedy as this. The check-in process was frustrating due to there being a line. We checked in on Friday you would think on a weekend, especially around arrival time there will be more than one check-in agent, but there was not there were several hotel staff walking about looking at everyone in the line, but no one helped at the check-in counter. Then when we got to the check-in counter, the price that I was told I would pay at check-in was totally different from what they charged me at the hotel. I did expect to pay a room deposit as most hotels have those however there was an additional fee because I booked and confirmed it a month in advance but this fee “was supposed to fall off as of April 30,” however I was still charged the fee nightly, it is supposed to be refunded with my security deposit but that is yet to be seen because it takes 5 to 15 days depending on your bank. Closest elevator was broken. As for the room, curtains were torn, only covered half of the window, the other half just had a sheer so with the lights or TV on you could see into the room, the towel rack in the bathroom was broken off. No fridge for cold drinks or microwave to reheat leftovers, no USB outlets or alarm clock."

"The hotel is very filthy. There’s no emphasis on even keeping the main areas clean. My room was so dirty that I had to be moved to a different room once the hotel was no longer sold out. My friend wasn’t able get a clean comforter for her bed therefore she had no bedsheets to sleep over a three day stay. Our toilet paper rack was hanging off the wall. Our sink in our bathroom did not drain nor did it have the cap in the sink that is usually there to catch things. The staff are very unprofessional. I watch security guard getting into it with someone walking past that appeared to be going through something mentally. It could’ve got really unsafe and ugly for those who were present. Honestly I never saw housekeeping the three nights that I stayed there."

2/10 Terrible

"The worst Hyatt stay ever! Where do I start! We booked 2 double-bed rooms for a HS team for a math competition. We were told there were only 1-Q rooms left and staff offered to provide rollaway beds for free. As we had a flight delay and it was late, we accepted it. The rollaway beds squeaked in the windowless rooms all night and kids who had a math competition the next day couldn’t sleep. My room was next to a service elevator that made thundering sounds all night. I woke up 15 minutes into my sleep thinking it was an earthquake. No, that sound continued all night. Oh, the toilet broke too! And the $25 breakfast plus service charges was only as good as Residence Inn free breakfast. The location was great but the $50 parking was a nightmare also because of the location. After all the tips, the valet “lost” my husband’s Oakley also. Staff’s attitudes were surprisingly not quite the norm of a Hyatt Regency. The only great thing was the rooms were spacious but I’ll never stay there again!"

Hotel Mazarin

10/10 Excellent

"Delighted to discover Hotel Mazarin! We live in Louisiana and have been coming to New Orleans for decades for theater, weddings, or shopping. Located a 5-minute walk from Saenger Theater, across the street from John Foltse's Revolution, a block from Arnaud's, GW Fins, 1 block off Bourbon Street, a 2-3 minute walk from Galatoire's and Antoine's. Rooms are clean, tastefully decorated, roomy and relaxing. Doors open to a beautiful spacious courtyard below. A quaint bar on property and The Old Absinthe Bar steps away. Pleasant and attentive staff. Bravo!"
