$37 for a martini was a bit much. Trash in the hall way and a leaky hallway ceiling were on two different floors. Poop bags were not replaced during my three day stay. This was at the lawn in the back. The door to get to that lawn is not accessible with a room key forcing people with their dogs to walk all the way to the side doors. We used a rock to prop the door open so we could get back in. The staff was fantastic in all departments.

Fabulous view. Great service. Tryout there new Mexican restaurant hidden in the side . Ask for Guided hiking tours. They arranged sailing for us as well. It from anywhere and everything. I will strongly advise to rent a car at the airport. Keep it up team Ritzy.

This is truly a 5 star hotel, the property is super nice and the service is amazing. We were debating to stay in South Lake Tahoe but chose this hotel instead and that was absolutely the best decision.

We've stayed at a few Ritz-Carlton resorts including New Orleans and Turks & Caicos a month or two after it opened and this one did not disappoint! We loved it so much we applied for a Ritz-Carlton credit card...the resort is tucked away in the mountains of Truckee and it's absolutely beautiful. The entrance sign is very understated but that's what you expect from a luxury brand--quiet understated upscale luxury and the property is too but it is stunning. The porte cochere is wide and expansive where the valets await your arrival. The doormen and bellhops are there to take your luggage if needed. Upon entering the gorgeous lobby we checked in at the desk which was quick but friendly and professional and left with a welcome drink of champagne which was refilled before we left for the elevators. Our room was on the 5th floor with a Mountain View and a view of the fireplace area where s'mores are made every evening at 5:30. There's lots of seating there too. The room was perfect; quiet, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was stocked with bathrobes and towels and all the luxury items you need for a hot shower or bath. There was a refrigerator and lots of water. We unpacked and headed down for a tour of the place. We went to the concierge to set up some spa services for the next day, looked around the gift shop and then headed up the staircase to see the restaurants and The Living Room. All clean, nice and gorgeous with beautiful views of the property and landscape.

The hotel is very outdated with cracks in the bathtub and dusty carpeting - had allergies all night due to the dust. Does not have a 5 star feel, small rooms with tiny balconies with hardly any standing room (no room for chairs or anything). The staff was amazing, especially room service staff, went above and beyond.

The Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe is a very impressive property sitting on top of a mountainside in the Northstar resort area about halfway between Truckee and Kings Beach. Service was world class, from the second we arrived until we left all the staff we interacted were very accommodating and were good at anticipating our needs. We visited in the slower season between Summer and the Winter Ski season, so the hotel was very quiet. The pool was closed for renovation at this time which was a bit disappointing ( I was really looking forward to an after hike soak in the hot tub), but understandable as the window for construction in the high sierras is very short. We ate at both Manzanita the full service restaurant, and the LRL which is the lobby lounge area. Food and service were excellent. I really enjoyed sitting by the large lobby fireplaces after a long day out in the mountains. The quality of the rooms was very nice and housekeeping was excellent. Turndown service was included and they do a very nice job of setting up the room for the evening. Again the personalized level of service was preset here; they left sparkling water and my wife's glasses on her side and left still water and distilled water on my side of the bed for my cpap machine. We are not super big into winter sports but I imagine with the proximity to the mountains and the available amenities this would make a great ski trip destination in the winter as well.
