Booked 2 rooms for 3 nights for my parents & me. Staff were uncommunicative from the start. It was our first time to visit Marrakesh after having been to Casablanca, Rabat & Fes, in which we stayed at a riad too. The Fes riad, which was cheaper by $15 for 3 nights and 2 rooms was the total opposite of our stay at this riad. That Fes riad was gorgeous & the staff was so warm, welcoming, communicative & attentive. Here, we couldn't get them to respond when I emailed & called them asking for directions from the airport. Even Expedia called them twice on my behalf & both times they didn't respond. Not a good first impression of welcoming your guests.
It was very confusing, overwhelming & exhausting locating this riad, especially as the taxi dropped us off at the very chaotic main street. We didn't feel safe despite it being daytime because the alley to reach this riad was dirty & rundown. We wanted to shorten our stay for 1 night but since we weren't going to get refunded, we decided to complete our stay.
It felt like we were under watchful eye by the staff and any small request we asked was met with a fee (eg, we asked for eggs for breakfast & that was 2 euros, their Marrakesh city walking tour package was $45 when those walking tours could be had for $15 from other online tour group companies).
Breakfast was a total letdown: bland bread, jam, coffee and tea. Doors couldn't be locked completely (old school key & padlock, but still can be opened if forced). Stay elsewhere.
