โThis was a wonderful experience, very friendly staff who were always ready to help, offering glasses of chilled water in the spacious and well-furnished public rooms and alcohol in the evenings. We stayed in the large Shakespeare room, often used as a Bridal Suite. The spa is great, with a good sized pool, a jacuzzi and unusual sauna.
Really good breakfasts served in bedrooms and at the nearby sister-hotel Milsoms. The fine dining at the main restaurant on the nearby River Stour was sublime,...
โWe had a lovely stay at the Marquis, our suite was lovely and had a private west facing balcony so we watched a lovely sunset over the river.
Dinner was excellent, as was the wine, highly recommended.
Staff were all really friendly and helpful.โ
โLovely hotel, fabulous areas to relax and enjoy a coffee or drink in the evening. Had a room in the old part of the hotel and it was clean, spacious and had a traditional feelโ
โWe loved it here, had a a good couple of nights with friends. Beautiful apartment, amazing mattresses and pillows, very quiet environment. The pool wasnโt open and some work was happening but you can tell itโs going to look amazing once they put it all together and summer prep work is expected at this time of year. Kara was fab and we met a super helpful housekeeper who is doing a degree who was a literal walking tourist information centre. Great atmosphere all round .โ
โFabulous traditional country hotel with excellent accommodation and top notch food options. Very convenient if you're intending to walk to Flatford Mill where the Haywain was painted - it's a 45 minute walk alongside the river. Staff were very friendly and helpful and even managed to find me the right sized Alan key to unscrew my camera's battery compartment!
Very Highly Recommendedโ
โNice tidy and clean room that looked like it had been recently fitted out.
Decent sized Kitchen at each end of the corridor i didn't use them but they looked fully kitted out and new.
The hotel is on a quiet residential street but took me 5mins to walk into the town centre which has loads of bars, shops and restaurants.
Worth calling ahead of arrival and they'll reserve you a parking spot (There aren't many spots)
Nice bloke on reception showed us our rooms and kindly found me a fan.

โHoteliers had provided lots of extra touches. The cleaning was impeccable.
The room was well, decorated she had good quality cushions and curtains made to match the paper on the feature wall, nice quality biscuits and tea, sew kit and cottonpads.
Wonderful comfy bed and clean shower room.
Great selection at breakfast, fresh fruit, raspberry, blueberry, cereals then full English and about 8 various mini jam pots including salted caramel, I had to resist taking them home
1st time I've been to...
