"I’m not sure ir I stayed in room 2322 or 2320, but the room was very clean and neat at my arrival. As someone that worked in hospitality for many years I know exactly when I room is clean. Very friendly and helpful staff starting by my housekeeper who gave me some advice to navigate around the city since it was my first time visiting San Francisco, to the front desk staff that recommended me places to visit and eat, to the horsemen that helped me to find my car. I had a very pleasant experience during my two days stay. The only thing I had a little trouble with was getting from the parking lot to the elevators area. The stairs and the two very close and narrow doors. It is a whole project trying to hold the doors, while carrying your luggage and go downstairs. Overall I loved staying at the hotel and for sure I will stay there my next visit. "

"My partner and I stayed the night of March 3, 2026. Around 6:00 am my partner woke up suffering a medical emergency for which paramedics were called. Our room was in the back almost hidden part of the hotel with no signage indicating any rooms were even back there and a narrow, steep staircase to access them. Additionally, no address is anywhere on the street facing facade of the building. Knowing these peculiarities from previous stays at the Hotel Garrett SF, I knew I had to leave my partner’s side while on the phone with 911 to advise the front desk that we in room 137 had a medical emergency, that paramedics were on th way and that b/c the entrance and access to the room from the street for the property was very hard to perceive, we needed their help to flag down the ambulance and direct the paramedics to the room. 20-30 mins go by and help hadn’t arrived. So, I leave my partner’s side, though 911 advised not to, to go see what the delay might be. I saw no one at the front desk and the security guard calmly walking the opposite direction doing his normal rounds and NO ONE helping as I had asked. Luckily, I saw the ambulance about to coming by, two lanes away from the entrance of the hotel and start waving and jumping up and down to catch their attention. The driver raised his hand in gratitude as they had missed it on the first pass(es) (they had the lights off like they’d missed the call). No one to help explain limited access to room. Hotel GarrettSF failed us!"

"Location was great! Close to Union Square, shopping and dining. The 2 restaurants could be improved, Kan Pai is the only dinner dining restaurant. Seems more like a lounge/bar and a bit noisey. Anzu which i was hoping to have dinner at, is the nicer and more formal restaurant, but only open for breakfast. Need to have more dinner options. We had to walk to the Westin to eat at Bourbon Steak which was super loud."

"This hotel is near neighborhood restaurants and bars. The room is clean, however the bed is small for two people. There is no AC in the room. You have to leave the windows to cool down the room. The room service is not daily, only assigned days. When we were out, we wanted to get the trash out, new towels and to tidy room. When came back in the evening, the room wasn’t clean. We placed the trash bags and towels outside the door. Waited until housekeeping was ready to pick it up. Lastly, the hotel is in an urban area. Therefore, there are the noise, the smell, and un-housed people everywhere. "

"Bring an eye mask, the fire suppression system had a flashing light right by the bed. No toilet privacy in loft room but great for a solo traveler. Very convenient to the BART, Muni rail, and F streetcar. Most won't want to stroll the immediate area much, but there is a nice little Parisian cafe that opens at 5am and a Walgreens that opens at 8."

"Wonderful Union Square location with inexpensive overnight parking across the street in public garage. Many food options nearby including "The Beer Hall". "

"Great location with a bit of history for the movie buffs. Easy walk down to Union Square and transport options all around. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. "
