With new rules, restrictions and safety measures to adhere to, travel looks a little different right now. Here's what you should know before you hop on that plane to Southeast Missouri:

• Find out what, if any, rules or restrictions apply to both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so be sure to check before you lock in your flight.
• When you pass through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to lower it briefly for identification purposes. Those who refuse to wear a mask may be fined and denied entry.
• Instead of handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, position it straight on the reader yourself. Once that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now permitted in your carry-on baggage. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to take it out of your bag for scanning.
• Empty your personal items from your pockets, like your keys, phone and wallet, and put them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will minimize handling during screening.
• Separate any food you have for screening. Food items often set off the alarm. Placing them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to touch and inspect your belongings.
