โThe building is old, well cared for with rustic - with character. The bed was comfortable and the room had a small sink. Toilet and shower are communal and I found them to be very clean. There isn't a coffee maker in the room but they bring out coffee in the hallway. There is a wonderful bagel bakery on the same block with coffee if you need it earlier.
I'd definately stay here again but if you want all the usual comforts of a hotel, this is not the place. If you are flexible, it's a fun place...
โPros: Bed was crazy comfy, they have a coffee shop inside, suppppper close to the train station
Cons:seeing a stolen car hit 2 people a block away.โ
โStaff was key to making this trip so nice. Thanks Jess, Wesley, and Ginger!
Room was nice, roof top was sweet.
The cleanliness and facilities I think were nice but only slight bummer was the shared microwave can get a little dirty depending on the other guests. Also, the walls are understandably hotel thin so could hear next room opening drawers and of course when the cleaning service is going on.โ
โWe loved how close it was to Moda-
We had our 12 year okd to walk and did not have issues at all! Everyone was doing the same! Pool was great! All around great pick! โ
โAbsolutely loved our stay at The Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown. The lobby is a work of artโplayful, stylish, and full of character. Our room was spacious, comfy, and felt like a true escape from the city bustle. The staff went above and beyond, making us feel genuinely cared for. Perfect location, gorgeous vibe, and a warmth you donโt often find in hotels. You can tell itโs an older building, with serious 1930โs charm beautifully blended with modern updates. Canโt wait to come back!โ
"The location is excellent. Overall, the staff are friendly. The rooms are spacious and decent, but they do not meet the high-end quality I imagined when booking. It's an average hotel, but it has a few drawbacks.
Firstly, it was listed as offering free breakfast, but instead of an actual free breakfast, they provide a credit that can be used like a voucher for the total amount. The breakfast itself is not great for the price, so it doesnโt seem worth selecting. Additionally, there is no bathtub in the bathroom, which is a disappointing omission.
The tap water is also quite murky. They claim itโs mineral water, but it just looks dirty. Being sensitive, I also experienced minor skin irritation after using the water.
The pool and fitness center are somewhat small but usable. This hotel is $40โ50 more expensive than others, and I booked it for the pool and breakfast as its advantages, but they werenโt particularly necessary, as the experience is ultimately similar to other hotels.
It wasnโt a bad experience, but Iโll likely try other hotels next time."
