Kanmon Tunnel is an undersea tunnel which was planned in the 30s and completed in 1958 (due to the war) and opened in 1973. It is a roadway which linked Honshu (main island) and Kyushu (South Island) of Japan.

Other than the roadway there is also a pathway for pedestrians and cyclists to walk across undersea (780m).

It was a v cool experience to walk undersea and to find even a marking below it which separate both the prefectures when one crosses one to the other. Also, am surprised to find cellular actually works here! For something planned in the last century, it is quite an engineering feat!

A very enjoyable experience as it is also very scenic along the coast once you exit the tunnel!
