Alabama Gulf Coast, Alabama hotel rooms at the Independent

"At first arrival,we noticed only a small amount of handicapped parking spots, in which there was spaces up next to them with cones blocking them. Then when entering the building there were signs saying they were renovating the rooms. The lobby area was nice and greeted by the friendly staff. The room was clean, with a wonderful view of the gulf, there was a microwave ,small refrigerator and a coffee maker. There was 2 bottles of water by the ice bucket, but only to read the note on the bottles,they were free for exclusive Hilton members, I’m a Hilton member but not elite, so what water would you drink or even make coffee, it might sound cheap, but I went down the street and bought a case of water for 4$, we like to drink water and I wouldn’t recommend the tap water. We later found out that those spots were being kept for the work trucks bringing items in and out of the hotel"

"We had a view of the beach, the hotel was very nice. Had a pool/ lazy river. The beach was very accessible. Enjoyed our stay"

"Breakfast was okay. Eggs were watery. No sausage. Pancakes were good. Room was clean and cozy. Staff was super nice. "

"We did not eat breakfast at the location because it was not complimentary. We were disappointed that they didn't even offer complimentary coffee."

"The room was clean and comfortable with a full kitchen including a dishwasher. The breakfast menu was fresh - scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, hot oatmeal, sausage egg and cheese biscuits, cereal, fruit, fresh waffles, and juices and coffee. The indoor heated pool is great! Plenty of parking; and once you add in downtown OWA, it is a great place to stay."

"The food was very fresh and very good. The pool area was very clean. However, my room had a tear in the carpet and the tack strip cut my grandson‘s foot. There must’ve been a leak in the wall where the bathtub was because it got our luggage, all wet, and the carpet was soaking wet. The pillow fell off onto the floor and when we picked it up, it was unusable because it was so wet. The staff were excellent. They were very nice. they only gave us three towels and there was five people we went down there to ask for more towels. They gave us one more so we had to share towels.They did take off my parking which was $18 a day that I did not realize I was paying, for my trouble, but it didn’t fix my one year-old grandson‘s foot. "
