"First off, the staff is helpful and friendly. No complaints.
The ownership is a different matter. This lodging is old and needs a complete refresh. It is advertised as serving the public since 1912. I think that is the last time this place got a coat of paint. Room was worst than a Motel 6, but at least Motel 6 is upfront on what you are paying for.
The primary reason for renting at this location was the Telsa destination chargers (2) being available. That was an experience.
One charger is broken. The other is turned off by the staff to insure non-hotel cars don't pull up to charge. I had to go to staff each day to turn it on. A sign on the front door offers direction to Elbe if you do need your Telsa charged. I checked it out for future use. It is a ChargePoint units. No way to interface with Telsa. ChargePoint connectors don't inferface with Telsa adapter.
The room - we were in unit 16 (pet friendly). Room had one hanger. Bathroom had toilet that clogged. Shower-min flow. Towels were fresh and soft. Tiny TV. Bed comfortable.
The building - chipped weathered paint. Exposed wood. Very sad feel.
The grounds - minimum upkeep. Grass surrounds pond.
The pictures - shows firepit. No firepit. shows restaurant. No restaurant. All wood outdoor chairs are weathered, with splitters. shows fireplace. No fireplace.
The owners need to close and renovate.
Paid $1200 for 4 days. Total ripoff.
But again, the staff was great! Feeding fish in pond great!"
"The bathroom bath tub would not drain properly. When taking showers the water would come your ankles even after assuring that the stopper was properly set."
"Very quaint chalet in the heart of the national park. It was super quiet and peaceful and awesome to be able to sit on the porch and look at Mount Rainier. The food in the restaurant was also very good and the prices were quite fair. The only thing to know is that there's no cell signal and very limited WiFi on the property, also no TV's in the rooms. But if you're looking for a place to disconnect from technology, this place is great!"
"While the location is just right, this hotel is not!
The hotel had a musty odor but looked clean. The entryway was a mix of 1980's meets colonial south The evening attendant was kind but pressured. They said the same rehearsed dialogue for each one of us checking in. One surprise was that we selected this hotel over the others, it was due to the fact they advertised 24-7 pool and spa. This was not the case. Even though it was clearly advertised as available amenity it was closed. Drained and bone dry, not even humidity or moisture on the windows.
When the elevator door opened we were greeted with the strong smell of mildew. The room was worse. We immediately tried airing out the rooms. To make things worse, the first blast of water out of the faucet was air with mold mixed chlorine.
For those with severe allergies or compromised immune systems, this is not the hotel for you. It cost me a week of asthmatic related issues and s trip to the ER"
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Puyallup (Tacoma Area) by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"Very accommodating staff. Kayla especially went above and beyond but we enjoyed all interactions from front desk to dinning room attendants. The room was generous size with sufficient towels, blankets and more."
