I've travelled a lot over the last 4 decades and Kona Palace has the best view of any property I've stayed in. At check in we had a little bit of extended wait time. She may have been in training. I think there was some confusion at check-in which led to a walk-in where I was underdressed. Hike, kayak or take a boat cruise to the monument celebrating the life of the famous British explorer.

Visit the historic walled refuge of Hawaiian lawbreakers, the only place on the island where their lives would be spared.

After visiting Painted Church, make a plan to see the other sights and activities in Honaunau-Napoopoo. Wander the seaside and beautiful beaches in the area.
Why not spend a lazy afternoon at Ho'okena Beach Park during your trip to Captain Cook? While you're in the area, stroll along the seaside.
You can spend time studying the exhibits at Kona Coffee Living History Farm during your travels in Captain Cook. Stroll along the seaside or seek out the snorkeling spots.

Captain Cook is great. Go to Rob's Cafe and Bakery.
There are some activities that can be done without spending a lot of money
the area is very low key, no major stores, chain restaurants. lots of local restaurants, farmers where you can buy local fruits/vegs & coffee. I love the area.
Bay view farm coffee on painted church road was excellent.
We ate breakfast at The Coffee Shack twice. Is a very special place, amazing view, good food and service.
