Such a relief from the property we originally booked in town. The rooms were soundproof. Staff very nice and hotel was everything we wanted. Scuba with Chris is recommended!!!
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Rooms were spacious, the staff was hard working and friendly. The breakfast was very good with plenty of options. It was an easy $10 taxi ride to town. The Lobster House Restaurant and Key Lime Pie Factory across the street are both very good. The only thing that needs some improvement is the food served at the restaurant onsite.
Quiet, clean, friendly staff, beautiful location with lovely beach for sitting and swimming, beach bar is nice, food is good, dive shop on premises, walkable to two restaurants.
The beach is a small space however once you swim past the small pier there’s plenty of beach to snorkel in. The beach is calm and completely crystal clear for you to snorkel or take a nice swim. The hotel is older but well maintained and very clean. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast included is the best. The restaurant a bit pricey.
I paid quite a bit to stay there. I think I paid as much, if not more than the Hotel Westin, next door. The Westin looked amazing, because I checked it out. My room at the Playa Azul smelled of mold. I was disappointed.
Rooms are overall nice, just a little scuffed in places but not bad. Food in the restaurant is excellent. Get the tuna tostadas!
Having the snorkeling area right there is great. Would recommend bringing your own gear, though - the dive shop nearby has old equipment that's in bad shape and overcharges you for it. Not the hotel's fault, but wanted to mention so others are aware.

We thoroughly enjoyed our eight day stay. This is a well-kept jewel. It’s small with a private beach that offers a nice get away from crowds. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Everything about this place stands out. We are returning guests and they always treat us like family. Check in and out is a breeze rooms are fantastic. You cannot go wrong regardless of the one that you get. Tiki bar outback is probably our favorite!
I've stayed at the Playa Azul since 1995. It's been my "go to" for that long and will stay my "go to" until death do us part!
The staff is wonderful. Breakfast is good, too. Other than rude Americans, it would be the perfect place to spend time for any reason.
The "hogging" of palapas on the beach gets annoying; had to get there by 6 am to get a spot. But, such is a price of paradise.
The property is "old" so you're not going to get "exactly" what you want.
By far, imho it's the best "little quiet beach" on the island and I've been to most all of them.
The spa is fantastic; great "specials" and the staff is divine.
Most safe and trustworthy place to spend your precious vacation dollars. And do tip your staff...they work so very hard to do all the things; cooking, cleaning and caring! As a guest, make the effort, go the extra mile for them, like they do for Everyone
Comfy bed and nice ocean view from 4th floor balcony. Snorkeling was decent from shore (saw fish!). I would have been happier if pool was heated and there was a little more water pressure in shower. Overall nice place good people and nice to be away from cruise ships (good safe area)
Great property. Service and staff were wonderful. Breakfast took care of business. Access to chairs and water were uniquely good. If you like quiet this is the place.
