"My family had a terrible experience at the swimming pool. If you are a single parent and your child is of the opposite gender and over 36 months, they are not allowed to enter the changing rooms with you. We discovered this the hard way. The receptionist let my sister enter with her two boys (6 & 2) to go swimming, once they had finished and went to reenter the changing rooms, we were aggressively told he had to go via the male changing rooms on his own, we refused to leave him on his own and then matters got worse when my nephew (6) was physically touched by the lifeguard and then again by the receptionist who tried to physically remove him from the changing rooms. They shouted at us to ‘get out’.
It was a very confronting situation, of which when we escalated to swimming manager Edward, he smirked and laughed as he didnt understand what we were explaining had happened.
There were no signs, we were not informed upon check in of this policy and we certainly were not willing to leave a young child in a public space with strange men on his own.
I wish this had been handled differently by the staff but they showed no remorse, understanding and my poor nephew (as well as the other children we was with) were left traumatised. Horrible experience."
