"Everything is special and extraordinary at House of Tugu. It's an oasis in the most populous city on the planet. The staff's attention to detail is outstanding, from flowers placed here and there, turn down service. The hotel itself is a museum, with uniquely decorated rooms. We stayed in The Colonial Room and highly recommend room 309, so long as you have a good sense of direction. It's a bit of a maze, which I'm proud to have easily mastered. It's all so beautifully interconnected and peaceful. I felt delighted at every turn. I enjoyed the spa services, all the meals, the coffee, high tea, the laundry service, the proximity just across the street to walking streets, a rare thing in Jakarta. After 38 years of world travel, I have found the best hotel of my life. I spent 2 nights there, then took a short trip, and returned for 4 more days to soak it all in. If you're in Jakarta, this is THE place to stay. "

"Very cheap affordable backpacker convenient location for street food, shopping and kfc pizza hut across the road at 40metres away. Not very clean but what do you expect for under $15. A bit noisy from Ramadan and being on the main street but it is what it is, a bargain for $15."
