"Choosing to stay at the Palace Inn was the worst decision I’ve ever made. I fell for the reviews claiming it was newly renovated, clean, and modern, so I booked a 4-night stay. Every single day turned out to be an absolute nightmare.
1. Disgusting Cleanliness and Poor Amenities:
The moment my daughter and I opened the door, we were greeted by a massive dead bug right under the table. It was so glaringly obvious that there is no way the housekeeping staff missed it. The amenities were laughably bad. The shampoo they provide is incredibly cheap and left my hair feeling awful, and they don't even offer conditioner. The bath towels were thin, tiny, and some even had visible, unwashed stains on them.
2. Terrible Sleeping Conditions:
The bedding setup is a joke. There was no duvet or proper comforter—just a single flat sheet and an extremely thin cover. Houston's weather is notoriously hot and humid, requiring the AC to be turned up high to keep the room dry. Without a proper blanket, the room became freezing cold, making it impossible to get a comfortable night's sleep.
3. Safety Concerns/Loud Disturbances (The Breaking Point):
We arrived on Thursday, and because the inn was quiet and we were exhausted from our flight, we managed to sleep through the night. However, Friday and Saturday nights were terrifying. Between midnight and 2:00 AM on both nights, there was loud, aggressive shouting right outside our door. People were screaming profanities and throwing "F-bombs" constantly."
