“We stayed at a one bedroom suite and it is an incredible value. There is a lot to see and do right inside the hotel grounds: Lush jungle, wild animals, fitness/spa, countless swimming pools, the beach, … Food is a little expensive by local standards, but all the restaurants are in beautiful surroundings like out of a movie set. All the staff are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much.”

“The room was clean. It was definitely showing its age. The edges of the full length mirror were deteriorated from moisture. The cabinet for the kitchenette sink was broken. No microwave oven. Obviously removed. The sliding patio doors did not seal, creating wind noise that sounded like a hurricane outside.”

“The sargassum was terrible. The beach in pictures for royale are not the beach that is there. They just push to sell you a timeshare. Cater to members over non members. Property needs some maintenance which they seem to be doing some while we were there.”

“The staff was rude we couldn’t get dinner reservations there were only a few places to eat! No transportation the hotel had roaches the elevators in the buildings did not work the bedding was stained and filthy!!!! It stinks I give it zero stars”

“It is a new construction, the room was amazing, really clean, with ocean view, the pool really nice. The only thing that it was a big minus is that the Wi-Fi wasn't working in our room, we notified the front desk clerk and went to our room to try to fix it but couldn't be fixed and in that area my phone didn't have good reception there, other than that it was great. ”

Some servers in the restaurants don’t speak very good English, so that can be an area of improvement. The overall impression is that the whole operation is out of tune. Strong management and review of all aspects of operations is recommended. Alila is not on par with the rest of the Mayakoba hotels.”

“ Booked this property last minute, got on a flight down there, took a taxi to the property only to find out they canceled the reservation. I never received any notification and it took me contacting them to have them tell me they cancelled it. Here we stand, a family of 5 with no place to stay. Had to take a taxi back to the airport and get booked on the soonest flight back home. I would not recommend staying here, and Expedia was no help either, all they said was “sorry for the inconvenience”. ”
