“Beautiful castle hotel, inside and out. Only suggestion I have would be to put a fan in each room during the summer, as you can’t open the windows due to the midgies and it gets quite warm when it’s 20° outside. Definitely take a hike around the island. Stunning views!”

We had a good sized bedroom but with noisy floors in the bathroom as well not too keen on electric showers but eventually got water at the right temp. Breakfast started off being a challenge as there was nothing we wanted but we had a conversation and someone went shopping so all was well for the three days we were there. “What a treat to stay at this hotel! Sitting in the indoor hot tub with the views across the loch was magical and something I won’t forget. The spa was immaculate and a real treat after a long day of driving. Rooms were beautifully decorated, staff were friendly, and it is a very dog friendly hotel. 10/10”

“Had a great time! Loved the island and this was definitely the nicest place to stay. Loved that it was just outside of the middle of town. Everything was great in all aspects. Especially the 2 Bartenders in the Hamilton bar in the afternoon. Very fun, yet polished.”

“The George was brilliant. We were travelling to Islay and it was intended as a stop off. We loved it! From the moment of our arrival, welcome from the staff was great, rooms lovely and bar / restaurant excellent. Food was superb. I can only recommend it to anyone travelling in that area.”

“Expedia does not tell you they don’t answer phone calls from foreign numbers & they have no front desk/ staff on site so only way to communicate is thru Expedia. I couldn’t get continental breakfast because Expedia blocks emails & they couldn’t send me payment link. No food or beverage available on site or within walking distance. Food delivery was lame, cash only & no utensils. Decent shower, bed & wifi”

“They don’t do a 4 person family room, despite it being advertised on Expedia. No solution was offered and our son has to sleep on the floor. Evening food and breakfast was nice.”

“This is an older property so don’t expect “modern boutique” style accommodation. The room was clean with nice sea view and the bed comfortable. The room was a bit warm (though that was when Scotland was having a bit of a heatwave - so probably not a common problem!). We had dinner in the Restaraunt and it was excellent. The final part of the road to Crinan is quite narrow which, while it adds to the anticipation, could be challenging if you are unlucky to meet a lot of cars on the single...

“Pet friendly is an understatement. The staff were so accommodating and went way above to make us and our dog Blue so welcome from his welcome pack to the fuss made over him it made our visit truly special. Massive thanks to Lucie, Taylor and Ray for looking after us and the old dog. Breakfast was brilliant and the I would highly recommend the Haggis, Neeps and Tatties. Probably the spiciest and best I've tasted.”
