“Rooms were good size. Bed was large and comfy. Pillows were comfy. Bathroom was a good size. All very clean. The floors in the room are laminate and could do with a good hoover and mop. Swimming pool was a good size. Sauna and steam rooms were working and usable. Gym was small but had everything needed. £15 parking for 24hr is a let down. If your a staying guest parking should be included. Towels are supplied for use at the pool and gym so you don't have to take them from the room.”

“Food, staff and on site facilities were all excellent. However, I was in room 35. It has a fixed pane window. There is no way of letting air flow through the room whatsoever. I really don't think this is acceptable under environmental health. There is no air conditioning unit or extractor in this room. A fan is provided, but all this does is move the hot air around. At night, there's no way you can let cooler air into the room whatsoever. It's the same stuffy air, heated up by the sun...

“Hotel is near the Jubilee campus but not near city centre. Clean and big room and staff was helpful. We had to pay for carpark at £6 per day. There used to be free carpark before this. It would be good if hotel guests are given free carpark like before as the price of the hotel stay is not cheap.”

“The room was clean, good size with everything you need. Dog friendly rooms. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Restaurant was excellent with good food, reasonably priced so we had breakfast, lunch and an evening meal there. Very popular but still really quiet at night. Definitely stay again. Being really picky, there was some superficial updates needed. The TV was basic and small. No plug sockets by the bed. Personally I did not like having my towels folded up and placed back in the bathroom....

“The room was spacious and clean but the air con didn’t work and the room was 27 degrees all night. There was basically no staff on hand and the ones that were there were overworked and not available for the most part. The meal in the evening was almost inedible the £30 steak was all gristle and I ordered a cheesy garlic bread which I came as a normal one, when I mentioned it to the waiter they didn’t do anything. When I asked for the bill I had to wait 30 minutes and also ask another waiter,...

“Check in was no frills. We arrived half an hour before check in and was offered a room but for an extra fee. I accidentally booked the room for one person so had to pay an extra £12 for breakfast which was fair enough but on check out an additional £10 for the extra person which I thought was unfair.”

“Lovely room, great staff, excellent food and a wonderful location - the views are stunning. This was our second visit, why wouldn’t you come back, it’s just great. Just wish we lived closer! We will be back next year for our third stay at the exceptional Peacock at Barlow”

“Original old rooms but full of character. Comfortable bed, tea and coffee. Lovely river view with outside tables and chairs. Had dinner and breakfast which were very good. Ample parking”

“Please be aware that this hotel has been taken over by OYO. If I’d have known this prior to booking I wouldn’t have proceeded to book. I thought we were booking the Mecure but on arrival it was evident that OYO have taken over this hotel. The room was dirty and tired. Asked for a new room but they had none available. The only plus point was that the Young lad on reception was helpful and understanding and this wasn’t his fault. But for the price we paid for the room it was unacceptable.”
