Thistle Express London Luton
6/10 Okay
"Although the hotel is extremely close to the railway station, it’s in an odd area of the centre of town where you have to walk up to it via a car park ramp. There is an access staircase from the other side in town, right next to an door of the Arndale Shopping Centre, but this was a hang out area for lots of young men, playing loud music into the early hours of the morning, and did not feel a safe place to walk through. Once inside, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the hotel itself was kept extremely clean. Breakfast was OK but the cooked items were standard items and although I didn’t eat late on the first morning, did seem like they’d been there for quite a while. I don’t think the mushrooms, very pale in colour, had seen a frying pan. The Greek yogurt, frozen berries, honey and pancakes were a much better option on day 2. I had a single room, which was well proportioned and had all I needed. The problem was that, due to the noise coming from below outside, I had to have the window closed and the room was then too hot. Due to the noisy, unsafe feeling, location of the hotel, and resulting problems associated with this, I’d have to think carefully before starting here again. 10/10 for staff friendliness and helpfulness though throughout my stay. Horwood House Hotel
8/10 Good
"Great weekend at Horwood House Hotel. Facilities were very good , grounds were beautiful to wander in and staff were very helpful.
I would definitely recommend.
Only downside - we booked a deluxe room but there was only 1 chair to sit in. We requested another one , but did not receive one."

"Broke"

Hampton by Hilton London Luton Airport
8/10 Good
"Good (although unencrypted) internet connection, spacious room, breakfast with a good set of choices of fine, but not premium quality. They are strict with the check-out time even when there seem to be many rooms unoccupied. "

Drift Inn at Wyboston Lakes
4/10 Poor
"Disappointing and overpriced stay
Booked Drift Inn for a birthday stay mainly for the pool/sauna, but left really disappointed.
Decor is bright and modern, and the room was clean, quiet and the bed comfortable. Corridors smelled nice too. But there were visible stains and the room was far too hot. No air con and the fan was useless. I slept outside the duvet and my husband was sweating all night.
Reception felt impersonal with self check in screens. Staff member looked bored and was vague when we asked about the pool, just pointing “over there” across the car park.
Cafe Bar was a let down. Tables were dirty with old plates left. We were told we could eat outside, chose a sunny jetty table, then told after 6pm food wasn’t allowed there, only in the shaded area. This wasn’t explained upfront. We didn’t eat as it felt unclean and badly run.
Leisure facilities are in a separate building across a car park/road and run by another company. We were told to call ahead as access isn’t guaranteed due to classes, even on a Sunday. Not the relaxed experience advertised.
Breakfast food was nice, but layout poor. By the time you’d fetched everything it was cold. Poached egg arrived as we finished. Menus cleared early.
Not a cheap stay. Felt disjointed and not worth the money. Wouldn’t return."
