The first day I checked in, there was a dead big spider on the bathroom floor. Not a big deal, but the bathroom floor should be cleaned for new guests. One of the towels had blue toothpaste stains from a previous glass. We went to dinner and my water glass had salad in it. I didn’t notice until after I started drinking it.

The rooms were filthy. There was someone else's hair in the corners of the bathroom floor. Stray hairs on the "clean" towels. Stains on the carpet and comforters. It felt so dirty that we even checked to make sure there weren't bed bugs before we went to sleep.

The property is inside of the park which is fantastic. It’s located right on the lake and the area is pretty. Staff was nice and polite - a special shoutout to Jerry who gave us his custom park map. While the room did not have an AC, it didn’t get too hot. Bonus points for sustainability efforts. Now, the negatives. The property is old and worn down. There’s a difference between “rustic feel” and an outright neglect. Unfortunately, Grant Village accommodation felt more like the latter one. There’s only one water fountain in each building with barely any pressure, making it difficult to fill water bottles. No places to hang out after hiking (picnic tables next to buildings etc.). Everything is old, rooms are not clean (found dead flies and crumbs all over the floor, it was clearly not cleaned at all). No microwaves (basically to force visitors into mediocre dining places in the area). Lack of WIFI is a separate story, it just needs to be advertised better on third-party booking platforms (e.g Expedia). The most upsetting part is not even a huge gap between the level of service/amenities and a price tag. Yes, we get it that visitors mostly pay for the location; but the lack of effort on the behalf of Xanterra, given complete lack of incentive due to absence of competition. The “they’ll come anyway” approach is very sad. There’re a lot of foreign visitors in the park, and I hate to see the park being shown in this light. Yellowstone deserves better.

Check in was very unclear where to go. After going in a circle and trying to find someone to help us we found the registration building. The smell of mold from the bathroom caused a horrible headache, the sending an employee up with air freshener spray did nothing! The fridge was as so loud when it kicked on and off. Lights didn’t work by the table nor the plug in. The coffee maker was not plugged had to move it to the floor to make a cup of coffee. The pictures online are so deceiving of what it really is. Not impressed! Camping outside would have been just as comfortable.

Unfortunately, our national park lodges are really third world hotels at this point. We let some vendor charge four hundred per night for an aging flop house built on our land with our tax money. The maid knocked on our door 3 hours before checkout to make sure we remembered we only had 3 more hours to stay. Thanks for waking me up!

The architect who designed our two full-sized beds room should lose his license. Our cramped room was too small and I have experienced better bathrooms at Motel 6. If I wanted a shower that small, I would have borrowed my brother—in-law’s camper. Grant Village is not up to National Park standards.

We stayed in 2 different buildings, Deer and Bear, as we bounced across the park for a week. I took hotel amenities for granted and did not notice in reviews that there is no A/C and no TV. Not the end of the world but should have done more research. The Deer room was a little larger with space for suitcases of 2 adults and 2 children. Room seemed slightly more updated. The Bear room was tiny with barely space to walk with suitcases crammed in random places. The bathroom floor had clearly been beat up a bit over time and was not very clean initially. Great staff member came in though and cleaned it. Great location in park and on the lake which was the major benefit of staying here. Lake House taco restaurant was a hit for our family to avoid the burgers and fries everywhere else. No microwave also didn’t allow for us to heat our own food. For location alone I would consider as an option.

Location was good for staying in park. However for the price it’s to outdated. I would consider driving further for amenities if it is possible. In amenities I am meaning. (WiFi, television, more plug in available and usb chargers.)

After check in a bison meandered across the lawn which was incredible. We went out behind our cabin and found a herd of elk with mommas and babies talking to each other. It was a magnificent experience we will never forget! A cabin in the woods in Yellowstone is the way to go!

Our room was small, the water pressure was low, and the beds were just okay, and housekeeping left a bottle of wine in the fridge. I would not stay here again for the price.

The property itself is quaint and rustic. We saw Elk and even a black bear right in the village. The general store had all the necessities and great coffee.

This property (lodge and restaurant) is a scandal! Expensive, old, firty, noisy... awful! NEVER go there: Xanterra is a thief!

Great location. It gives you great convenience live in the park. Very old hotel with old utilities. The worst part is WiFi. You cannot consider that you are connect. There is no cellular signal neither.
