Chelsea Hotel, Toronto

8/10 Good
"Our family stayed for 5 nights at the hotel. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. I requested extra towels and blankets that the hotel provided quickly. The service at the hotel was very friendly, Anytime I stopped at the front desk to ask a question, they were happy to offer help. The hotel is very very busy so the lobby is always full of people and luggage. The elevators also had long lines several times during our stay. Our 10 year old enjoyed the kids play area but did mention some problems with the equipment being worn out. We absolutely loved the location. Close to great food, shopping, centrally located to public transit. During our stay the fire alarm sounded around 2 AM. The entire hotel was told to evacuate via the stairwells. Between the size of the hotel and the amount of guests this took some time to decend 11 flights of stairs. With many guests scared and confused of what to do in this emergency situation, I felt that the hotel really failed in offering guidance and direction during the incident. I never saw a single hotel employee during the time of evacuation or while standing outside in the street. No explination or comment was given the follow day. All in all, the hotel was comfortable and location was great. Safety of guests could be improved."
