Golden Triangle

This popular district in central Denver is packed with museums, bars and restaurants.

The Golden Triangle sits just south of Downtown, with Colfax Avenue as the northern boundary, Speer Boulevard west and south and Broadway on the east. Eight museums fall within these borders. These include the Denver Art Museum, Byers-Evans House Museum (about early pioneer families), Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art and Clyfford Still Museum, which opened in 2011. The History Colorado Center, which opened in April 2012, is the most recent addition. Visit one or all, depending on your time constraints the Denver Art Museum is a highlight and not to be missed.

Leave plenty of time to take in the rest of the neighborhood, which buzzes with coffee shops, bars, restaurants, specialty shops, art galleries and beauty salons. Walk the tree-lined streets and take in the area’s history, evident in the eclectic mix of architecture. It’s one of the oldest neighborhoods in Denver and some of the 19th- and early 20th-century buildings remain, although there’s been a lot of development in recent decades, including the modern 18-story, French-style Prado building.

For boutique shopping, make your way over to South Broadway, where you will find everything from vintage clothing to haute couture fashion. The night clubs and restaurants offer the full range of after-dark experiences, whether you’re looking for an intimate dinner or late-night cocktail.

Colfax Avenue, which has seen some welcome development in recent years, is another popular street where you’ll find book shops and record stores, as well as boutiques and cafes. Join the locals for a drink at one of the street’s many bars. If you’re in the mood for a dance, the city’s hottest clubs are all within walking distance at the South of Colfax Nightlife District.

"Breakfast was below average for price. Ran out of items 1 hour prior to meal closing. Parking very convenient. I booked two nights simultaneously but on two different times and was told not to worry but I still had to recheck in. Good staff otherwise."
