The Park Vista - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel - Gatlinburg
8/10 Good
"The Park Vista was super nice. The staff were fantastic, the restaurant was very good, the coffee bar was a great touch, live music being played in the lobby/bar almost every night. The rooms were nice, very roomy refrigerator for a hotel room. The coffee maker is a pod type so keep that in mind if you are thinking of bringing your own beans. No in room microwave, but there is one near the elevators. The rooms could use a few more plugs, with all the devices now, our family of four was running out of outlets for phones/tablets/computers/smart watches, etc.
The pool was top notch. Two slides into two separate pools. A small kiddy pool and a hot tub. The upper pool was heated well, the lower pool was cooler which was good for when you got too warm. There is a snack bar near the pool which was nice. It's an indoor pool as well so weather wouldn't be a concern.
The trolley picking up/dropping off throughout the day is a perk everyone should take advantage of. With parking at $20+ per day, this is a great way to avoid that and still get to see all the great stuff on the strip.
The views were great, the building is iconic for Gatlinburg, there were bears to be seen, so make sure not to have any food in your car or it could get messy."
"So nice having breakfast on the property. We loved the river in the back, our kids loved checking out the ducks. Also love the indoor pool, nice and warm in there! "
"Overall the property is great! Vast space, incredible amenities, and even daily scheduled activities for kids! Buuuuut most of the staff was highly disappointing- beginning at check in. I had completed early check in online and was met by a very rude woman at the counter snapping at me for trying to recheck in- I didn’t realize they had a small table off to the side to pick up my keys from. After getting my welcome packet she told me to go back to the front desk to ensure my room was ready and she snapped another snarky response at me. Move onto to room. It’s as good as it needed to be. Nothing over the top but more than efficient. We attempted a craft. Made it there 10 minutes from the end to be met by two ladies- sitting and chatting with one another and we were told we were too late and could only take the craft back to our room to complete independently. Days later similarly we attempted to do a tie die back pack activity, which cost an additional fee and were told we were too late and could no longer participate. Another day we came to do a craft and my four boys were asked to move from the seats they selected bc that table was “for display only” yet moments later another family arrived and sat with no issue, despite there still being several other tables to have been redirected towards as we had been. We also did gem mining during our stay- and additional $30 for a bag of dirt and when I asked for separate baggies for my four boys I was told no. Also gym was pathetic."
