“There were spots of blood on the bathroom floor. I would not stay during a heat wave. We ended up leaving because the room was boiling hot, and whilst there was a fan, it just wafted warm air around, you couldn't open the windows because it had a safety link on it. The receptionist was lovely but she couldn't get hold of any managers and whilst she offered us a room on the other side of the hotel, it wasn't much cooler and didn'thave the extra bed we needed. We'd had book 2 rooms for 2 couokes...

“The royal hotel is a very nice hotel the room we stayed in was nice but was very hot could do with air conditioning could not fault the staff they were very kind and helpful could not do enough to make our stay better the breakfast was nice but only thing that was disappointing was the quality of sausages they wasn’t very nice other than them it was a nice breakfast Overall had a great stay hotel lovely staff excellent”

“Breakfast was very good all nice and hot. Unfortunately the room still had rubbish in it from previous occupants. The shower had more water coming out the bath taps than the shower head! All staff were very helpful and friendly”

“The B&B is definitely the best in my experience. Bedroom as well as bathroom are very clean and tidy. The paper folders in bathroom is antique-wise. Also electrical equipments are convenient and cool. Coffee server and fridge are stylish. Lights are well designed. Breakfast is delicious and plenty. Graham’s homemade jams are excellent. All aspects are perfect for my family. Thanks Graham. Best regards”

“A excellent stay prior to a flight from Bristol Airport. Restaurant was excellent with a good selection of food and drinks. The staff made you feel welcome. Car parking was great and only 15-20 minutes from the airport. Will definitely stay again.”

“Clean spacious room,very close to town, owners very friendly, only downside is having to walk up a hill to get to it.”

“The hotel is very dated. Every floor board creaked and I’m glad I had an end room and no one could walk past the room. I fear it would be very noisy. There is no air con in the rooms and in 32 degree heat that makes for an uncomfortable stay. Reception did give me a fan but that was useless.”

“Good value for money. Room well maintained, bathroom quite basic, breakfast buffet was reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful.”

“Bathroom was looking tired, tiles loose on wall and taps falling apart. Silicone needed replacing. No air conditioning available despite the controllers etc present. Fans provided but those weren’t much help. Breakfast was good and externally hotel looked lovely”

“The pub is an old building, therefore there are things that cannot be changed, so if you are a light sleeper and cannot use ear plugs this may not be for you. It was not an issue for us. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, we had one evening meal there, breakfast was perfect, they were very accommodating by tweaking the menu to what you prefer. Very close to the caves and gorge, easy to access other attractions.”
