“Great hotel, beautiful building. Appreciating the hotel is family owned, it could do with a little modern tlc TV didn’t work in the bedroom for channels 1-4. Extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work, towels are quite old, Check your dinner bill, we had 3 bottles of wine added to the bill but we’d only had 1 £25 bottle. “The Royal Oak is outstanding in every respect. If you're staying a night, its facilities are unusually generous and extensive; if you're eating, the menu and the food are great; and if you just want a drink, there's a bar area and plenty of seating outside. The staff are lovely. Plus there's plenty of local information, books, games and events, not to mention a farm shop. If you can tear yourself away, visit Wayland's Smithy a couple of miles away along the Ridgeway.”

“The Hotel has a nice view of the river. The room was clean and comfortable but rather small, there was only room for one chair in the room so with two guests one would have to sit on the bed. The bathroom was adequate but again rather small. This was Ok for a one night stay but if we were staying longer it would have felt quite cramped. “We loved the old country pub and hospitality. After a quick walk around the village we settled in for a few ales a fantastic dinner ad a good night sleep. Our breakfast was included which was fantastic as it was a full English breakfast cooked to perfection. Loved our time there and would highly recommend for anyone”

“Das Hotel liegt mitten im Grünen und bei der Anfahrt über das Grundstück freut man sich schon auf die typisch britische, alte Hausanlage. Im Inneren des Hotels geht der äußere Flair leider etwas verloren, eher so 80er Jahre Style. Wir hatten jeder die preiswerteste Zimmer Kategorie gewählt, gute Matratzen, das Fenster ließ sich öffnen und super war auch das warme und sehr saubere Bad. ”
