"Beautiful room, with large window and window seat. Perfect for reading and listening to the seals every morning. Be aware that the property is staffed from 10-6. Be sure to check your email for check in information. We would definitely stay here again."

"No "real" person at the front desk for check-in. The virtual attendant had a microphone that kept cutting out and it took three of us to figure out what she was saying and instructing us to do. There did not appear to be any staff on site and it did not feel safe. Extra flooring planks were left in the hallway with caution tape wrapped around them. The sheets appeared clean, but the mattress underneath was gross looking. Just an overall sense that this was not a good place to be. We did not spend the night and went to another hotel nearby that had a real person on sight and felt much safer. Don't stay here. Go someplace else."
Holiday Inn Express Arcata / Eureka - Airport Area by IHG
8/10 Good
"The hotel is close to the airport and the city of McKinleyville.
The staff is helpful and kind. Breakfast is okay. I enjoy their freshly brewed coffee. The premade breakfast burritos and egg sausage sandwiches are satisfactory.
Overall, the property is well maintained and very clean.
Our flight from Tucson to Seattle was delayed by several hours. We lost our first night stay at the hotel, which had been paid in advanced. And our first day for our rental car as well.
I asked for a refund but the front desk clerk told me I would have had to cancel the room the day before of our arrival, by 6pm. Had I known the plane was going to have mechanical issues the day before our departure, I would have. Haha!
The same issue happened with Avis, the car rental company."
"Fridge was broken. No staff in the lobby just a teleprompter with a webcam. Shady ass people that live there on site and let dogs run around without a leash or collar. Sketchy area. Room was dirty and towels were stained. Not safe at night people loitering around."
"It was a nice 2 bedroom house. It was clean but had an order of urine when we first got there. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy. Kitchen was stocked with plates, utensils, and cooking items."
"Wonderful boutique hotel, a stone throw away from the ocean, with just a handful of well appointed rooms (former classrooms). The property shares a larger lot with a nicer campground part of the same organization. Quiet and peaceful overall. Note however that despite the beautiful decor and finish inside the main building, sound insulation is minimal in the bedrooms. Clean and modern bathrooms. Nice common space downstairs with couches, turntable and vinyls. However, no breakfast available. No vending machines either in the main building or around the campground. A limited selection of food, snacks and beverages is available either during opening hours (daytime) at the registration office (attached to the main building) or driving to Trinidad on the main highway (approximately 5 miles South where a limited number of very good restaurants (and Murphy's, a well appointed local grocery store) are located. Access to the ocean (beach and trails along the cliffs' edges) is through a very nice State Park (Sue Meg) a short drive North of the property ($8/day access). Beautiful vistas. However, no direct access to the ocean or any beaches directly in front of the property (private properties and cliffs). Within 10 to 25 miles to great State and National Parks immediately to the North on Hwy 101."
"The staff is super friendly and very helpful. The property is dated but well maintained. My only issue was due to being a woman traveler, the doors to the room wings do not close all the way and were not locked, so anyone off the street can wander in."
"The setting, tucked into the redwoods, was peaceful and beautiful. The cabin was spotless and had plenty of room. Conveniently located near Main Street, my stay was relaxing and nice."
