“The host and hostess were very welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. Parking was in the property forecourt. The breakfast was well prepared and plentiful. The only issue was finding somewhere to dine. The local hotel could not accommodate us on the two occasions that we tried. The nearest was either Northern Sands or Castletown hotel both of which were a number of miles away.”

“We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. Matthew is a wonderful host, and we felt welcome in his home. The breakfast offerings were top notch, and our room and bed were so comfortable. The location was perfect for a day trip to nearby Oban, which should not be missed, particularly for the seafood and Oban Distillery tour. “We enjoyed use of kitchen /dining space, which included tea, coffee, and proper dishes and utensils. We could store extra food in the refrigerator. The warming closet to hang up wet clothes was amazing. Bed was very comfortable. View of lake was lovely. Host was attentive. Great stepping off point for hiking.”

“Teresa, our hostess, is absolutely fabulous! We couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome. The breakfast was great: fresh fruit, juices, coffee or tea, scrambled eggs, toast and cheese. Our room was very spacious, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. We stayed for 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed the fact that we were in the country but close to the city.”
