Top South Bay Hotel Reviews
Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina
10/10 Excellent
"Amazing hotel. I paid extra for bay view with balcony which was worth every penny. I was staying without a car and the location was ideal with lots of restaurants close by and a trolley station just over the road and a ferry dock to Coronado close by. I was there for a week and it was incredibly busy over the labor day weekend which was noticeable around the pool and when using the lifts. This wouldn't stop me from staying here again though. One day I came back from sightseeing and tried to get into my room only to find the hotel had changed all the locks in the hotel and everyone needed new keys. This coincided with a large number of people checking in so the lobby was bedlam. I had to stand in line for around 30 mins to get new keys. I wasnt best pleased but the front desk manager apologised and without being prompted offered a $100 room credit. I asked instead if I could delay my checkout time to 4pm on my last day and he agreed to this plus the $100 credit. He completely turned the situation around and I went away more than happy. I do still think they could have have handled the situation better in the first place by warning guests of the lock change but I couldn't fault yhe resolution offered."

The Sofia Hotel
8/10 Good
"It was a good hotel with a delicious restaurant and really great people. The only thing that frustrated me was that we bought an all-inclusive package but we were charged an “amenity fee”… that’s always super frustrating."
