“The place is OK as a base which we used it for whilst we were in the area. The food was nice with the added beneit of a Gluten free menu and they do have separate prep areas for food. Rooms nice, although a little dated and some need a little attention in places. Reasonably priced for both food and drink, service can be a little slow at times. Bar area gets busy we tended to sit in the restaurant area as it was more quieter. Breakfasts tasty, good selection of food and hot food if you want...

“Room and bed are cleaned well and morning breakfast is served also good. But ventilation is not good. Doesn't have any air conditioner so room is filled with hot air when checked in. Hotel is closed to road so that buzzing vehicles noise comes into window over night make me hard to sleep. Electric hot pot is served with stain inside so there's no way to make tea in the room.”

“Lovely hotel set on South Sands beach. Room nice - we had one looking out over road and car park - seaview ones more expensive. Walls are thin and you hear the plumbing system in morning when others are using their bathrooms. Breakfast is a delight, overlooking the sea and choice is excellent. You can take the boat from the beach to Salcombe town fir under a fiver. We did it one-way and walked back. Lovely coastal walk just over a mile so not too far. Road access to the hotel is quite...

“Unfortunately the hotel had some problems in the kitchen which impacted very badly on the menu for dinner, the breakfast, service (so slow) and noise. It would have been better to fix the problems before reopening or to have had the courtesy to let us know in advance what the situation was. I would have stayed somewhere else. Extremely disappointing as I’ve had lovely stays here in the past. ”

“The hotel is on the beach and a close walk to centre of town and very close to the marina. The room was clean and bright. Staff are very helpful, welcoming and professional. ”

“We were extremely disappointed having paid $600 for a 2 night stay in what was described as a superior sea view room. There was nothing superior about the room, the decor was tired, holes had been filled in the wall and had not been sanded and repainted. The wind whistled through the window. The water was not replenished on the 2nd day. Some of the staff were disinterested. The lift only services part of the hotel so you may have to carry luggage a few flights of stairs. The breakfast was nice...

“The property was easy to find and we were welcomed on our arrival. We were given an upgrade to a family room, which was much appreciated! The room was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend the Telstar!”
