"I booked this hotel through Expedia for a two-night stay in Canmore and paid close to $800 for what I believed would be a comfortable, standard room experience. Unfortunately, my stay was extremely disappointing.
Upon arrival, I was placed in an adjoining room with incredibly thin walls. The soundproofing was virtually nonexistent — I could hear every conversation, movement, and noise from the room next door. The neighbouring guests were very loud, and their child was screaming and yelling for long periods of time. The disturbance became so disruptive that I had to call security twice during my stay.
To make matters worse, the room itself did not feel clean or well maintained, which was especially disappointing considering the premium price paid.
The following morning, I spoke with hotel staff and asked why I had been placed in an adjoining room when I had paid full price for a regular room. I was told the hotel was fully booked due to a conference and that availability was limited. While I appreciate that hotels get busy, guests paying premium rates should still receive an acceptable room experience and not feel penalized because of occupancy issues.
Because of the noise, poor room quality, and lack of rest, I made the decision to leave one night early. Unfortunately, I was not refunded for the unused night and was told that because the booking was made through Expedia, the hotel could not provide a refund."
