"Booked this hotel specifically for the swimming pool as I was travelling with my 5 year old who wanted to swim
We were only made aware the swimming pools been closed for 3 months when we checked in and had to drive to a leisure centre 20 minutes away so he wasn’t disappointed.
I expected the hotel to be dated so that was fine but there was rubbish in the bin when we got in our room and coat hangers on the lights.
This was our second attempt getting into our room as the receptionist told us the wrong room number initially.
Would’ve appreciated being told in advance about the pool closure."
"Breakfast was a bit of a disaster. Ordered 2 poached eggs just as another visitor ordered 2 poached eggs. It would seems the chef was told to cook 2 poached eggs. After waiting about 10 minutes 2 poached eggs were produced and the other visitor took them. I asked the chef about my 2 poached eggs. He had no idea anymore we're requested. He said 3 minutes. By this time the rest of my breakfast was cold. 3 minutes later the chef said my eggs would be another 2 minutes. I cancelled at this point. I don't argue with chef before they cook my meal (trust issues). I ended up having nothing to eat at all. A very expensive rubbish breakfast experience."
"Lovely room and very spacious
Next to the cricket ground a bit quirky
Only issue was the phone to reception didn’t work- could be a problem in an emergency"
"Helpful staff, very clean. A bit further from town center but on great bus stop routes. Would stay again but know that there was low water pressure and no refrigerator."
"The hotel appeared clean but there was a musty smell throughout the hotel that smelled like they are putting febreeze over it so it was kind of a weird smell. Our air conditioning didn't work and we called the front desk 3 times and it was never fixed, nobody contacted us about it, and our windows wouldn't open. It was hot and musty and we all slept with no covers on because it was so hot in our room. The pillows and bedding felt cheap. The pillows were flat and hard, no fluff left in them at all. However, the plus side of things, it has a bar and you can get room service, there was a nice restaurant inside, and it was almost right next door to the mall which is very walkable so there are a number of food and beverage options. The staff was nice and very helpful. The only issue with the staff was that nothing was done about the ac situation."
"The corridors were a bit tired. People dragging their cases along damaged the wallpaper and it needs replacing. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and the staff were really nice and helpful. Very handy location for getting to Southampton to join a cruise."
